Frequently Asked Questions

Hot and cold therapy, also known as contrast therapy, involves alternating between hot and cold treatments to promote healing and recovery. 

Incorporating hot and cold therapy into your self-care routine can be a great way to support your overall well-being: Activate the parasympathetic nervous system, boost cardiovascular health, support sports performance, muscle recovery, improve cognitive function and mental health.

  1. Sauna first, start with 15-30 minutes.
  2. Cold plunge, aim to stay in for at least 30 seconds for first-timers (if you can!). Work towards 1-3 minutes at your own pace for optimal results. 
  3. Dry off and rest, stay hydrated. 
  4. Repeat as many times as you like, alternating between hot and cold.

 

Tips:

  • Do box breathing before and/or during your cold plunge: Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, breathe out for 4 seconds. Repeat.
  • While in the cold plunge, keep your arms and legs out of the tub first (it’ll be more comfortable for first-timers!). Put your arms and legs in the tub when you’re ready to fully submerge.

Hideaway offers both semi-private and private bathhouse experience to maintain an intimate atmosphere, with options that allow for both solo escape and shared relaxation.

Our semi-private bathhouse features 4 individual pods in a shared space. In each pod, you’ll have your own infrared sauna (1-2 pax) and cold plunge, and you can also bring max 1 guest to your pod. Common showers are available. 

Our fully private suite features your own infrared sauna (2-3 pax), cold plunge, and private shower.

Book a pod/suite based on your preferred cold plunge temperature:

  • Semi-private bathhouse: 2°C and 8°C cold plunge available
  • Private bathhouse: 4°C cold plunge

Semi-private bathhouse: For $20 each visit, you may bring max 1 guest to your pod. 

Private bathhouse: For $20 each visit, you may bring up to 3 guests to your suite. 

  • Whether you bring 1, 2, or 3 guests to your session, you’ll only need to pay $20.
  1. Bring swimwear and a change of clothes. Towels are provided. 
  2. Bring a wet bag to keep your damp swimwear after your session. Wet bags are also available for purchase at Hideaway. 
  3. We will ask you to remove your shoes before entering the bathhouse. You are welcome to bring your own bath slippers.

Infrared saunas use infrared heaters to heat the body directly, creating dry heat with minimal humidity. In contrast, traditional saunas heat the air first and can create high humidity levels, especially when water is poured over heated rocks. 

Both types provide relaxation and health benefits, with differences in experience and comfort levels. Hideaway’s bathhouse is equipped with all infrared saunas.
